To start off I’m on wic..In another state before we moved they used enfamil lipil with iron as their formula of choice..my daughter has been using that for 2 months (since she was born) we moved to another state that is using nestle good start and they gave me a sample to try out before my appt this week…i started giving it to my daughter 2 days ago and she has been really gassy and her poop has been GREEN and really watery and in abundance…it was normally yellow and formed…but since her first stool after the nestle good start she has been having green and runny and it smells HORRIBLE…could it be the formula?? I’m not sure what to tell them when I go to the appt because she seems not to like the taste either

That could keep happening until she gets used to the formula, I would use what they gave you for the week and if it still occurs then tell them that it is not agreeing with her, and they should be able to give you what you were getting in your last state but you might need a doctors note.

It is normal for babies to get diahrrea when their formula is switched, the best thing to do for her is to get a small container of the enfamil and mix it will the good start and do that for a few days using less enfamil everyday. Then she should be ok, if it continues after that she may be allergic to something in the Good start. I hope this helps

the same thing happened to me, my daughter was wic and my state uses similac, my daughter could not stomach it, then we tried everything until i bought nutramigin (really expensive) I had to wait till she was 6 months to change her to good start and thank god she’s good now, but for a few days she had a tummy ache until she got use to it.

It could be that switching the formula upset her digestion. She might get used to though. I would tell them at your next appointment that she had really bad diarrhea when you switched her formula and see if they recommend anything else. She could have caught a stomach bug though.

My daughter has been on Good Start since she was 3 months old. Good Start makes poop green, and gives off a different odor than other formulas. We had her on EVERY kind of formula until we found good start worked for us and for her. We’ve seen her poop go from formed and yellow to formed and brown to watery and green. We’ve seen it all. Good Start didn’t make her poop wtery, but it was much looser than on other formulas, but it did make her poop green. It’s also because Good Start has already broken down most of the particles. They use Whey Protein, which causes the looser stools.
Formula does not go through a child quickly enough for the next poop to be affected, so it could be something else.
For safety’s sake, I’d take her to see a doctor just to be safe. When my daughter started having loose, watery stools, she ended up with severe dehydration and gastroenteritis and needed an IV.
As for the taste, my daughter hated it at first too, but she got used to it. It’s just something different. She’ll get used to it.
ETA: My daughter’s digestive system couldn’t physically handle the powdered forumla. She became very gassy as well. We had to use the concentrate or ready to feed. See if you’re able to try that and see if there’s any change. Some babies’ systems just can’t handle powdered.
