normal baby poop doesn’t form “turds” the way adult poop does. a breastfed baby’s poop looks basically like screaming yellow runny cottage cheese. a formula baby’s is a bit thicker and usually more greenish looking.
if your baby is generally content, growing and gaining weight, and feeds well at sort-of predictable times, then there’s no problem.
if your baby truly has diarrhea, she will be dehydrated: her skin will look dry, dull, and wrinkled; her mouth will be sticky, not wet inside; and her eyes will be dull (not shiny) and sunken, surrounded by dark circles. she will be weak and constantly crying but her crying will sound feeble, not angry and vigourous. she also will not move much and when you change her diaper, she will feel like a limp doll, not like an active baby. if your baby shows these signs, go to the emergency department ***right now*** – do not even pause to turn off the computer: pick up your baby and go because every minute counts (literally).
Aside from the two weeks/six weeks issue (maybe you meant two months?) I might have an answer for you. I suggest you call the doctor and ask a nurse if you need to bring the baby in.
Are you breast-feeding? If so, breast-fed babies often have bright yellow, liquid poop until you start feeding them solid foods at 5-6 months of age. If you’re not breastfeeding, maybe your doctor will have another solution for you.
Good luck.
get your story straight for one thing…
it is impossible for a 2 week old to have diarreah for 6 weeks so far. Do you mean that your 2 week old has had diarreah for 6 days so far? either you do not know what a baby’s poop should look like, or you should take your baby to the doctor.
Do you mean your baby is two months? If you baby is breastfed I bet he doesn’t have diarrhoea, it’s just runny. Even formula fed babies appear to have diarrhoea type poo until they start eating proper food. I bet it’s not a problem.
Have you been changing yr baby’s food? A lot of times when you change yr baby’s food it’s immune system isn’t strong enough yet to be able to with stand the change so it causes them to have diarrhea.
Your baby is 2 weeks old but has had diarrhea for 6 weeks?? Something doesn’t add up.
Regardless.. what do you do? Take your child to the ER if you are concerned… they don’t mind and it is better safe than sorry.
Go to the doctors they can give them a drink that puts the sugars back in the body which can make babies better. It is a powder that can go into water.
Your question makes no sense, but if you have a very young baby with diarrhoea, then go to the doctor as soon as possible as they could get dehydrated very quickly.
So for 6 weeks a two week old baby has the poops???????
Does not compute.
If your two week old baby has had diarrhoea for more than a couple of days, you should see the doctor.
Don’t understand what you are asking. You have a 2 week old baby but he/she has had diarrhoea for 6 weeks. No No No……. he/she can’t have.
Feed baby with cooled boiled water but not milk get some dioralyte from your doctor it is a powder to mix in with the water.
your question makes no sense, however a rare problem with that kind of symptom is lactose intolerance, go to a doctor.
I wonder if you meant 6 days. If so, you take it to the ER immediately, to be on the safe side.
take your baby to a doctor or telephone the doctor on call service now
Is your baby six weeks old or two weeks old-whatever age he is see the doc now!!!
If your baby is 2 weeks, then how can it have had diarrhoea for 6 weeks?
Ok so her diarhhoea started at minus 4 wks old?
2 week’s old yet he’s had it for 6 week’s……… errmmmm how’s that possible?
how is that physically possible. I think you should look at your Q again and re-phrase it.
LMAO. i just did a big ‘huh?’ face at the computer with that question. lol.
