My Six Year Old Has Had Diarrhea For 3 Days. ..?
2009 September 28
there are no others symptoms
no fever, no vomitting.
of course she says her stomach hurts
i have not given her much to eat just dry toast, gatorade, pedialyte, crackers and such.
her bottom middle teeth did just erupt that is the only thing i can think that is causing this.
i do not think it is a virus because her 3 year old sister and me have not gotten sick and we are always around her.
question is should we take her to the doctor now or just wait it out? i figure the doctor will say just wait it out anyways. i did give her half of an imodium pill and baby pepto and it slowed the diarrhea down.
any ideas?

It could be a virus and I would take her to the doctor immediately, but otherwise fatty acids found in olive oil is known to help form stools. I wouldn’t try it though until she is tested. watch out for anti-biotics though. this could mess her up worse unless the doctor knows what bacteria it is. remember anti-biotics don’t kill viruses and it does damage the the stomach. They are needed at times though.
It could be stomach flu but with a child you should never take chances. Is best to take her to the doctor or many times you can probably call the nurse and explain the situation and she may be able to tell you what to do over the phone or maybe suggest for you to bring your child in.
try just calming her down. spend some time with her, maybe telling her you love her and making her feel good. laughter is also the best medicine. keep a close eye on her to make sure things are going well. if things dont improve in the next couple of days, try talking her back to the doctor, even if it is for some advice. good luck, and hug your six year old for me.
First, STOP Gatorade (sugars in any form are not good for her). Why are you continually using Pedialyte?
.
Three days is long enough. Call the doctor’s nurse & tell her you’ve used Imodium & Pepto & it only slowed the problem. Ask what to do. Good luck!
You need to take her to the doctor as soon as possible. She is too young so the diarrhea can harm her a lot.
Even if you don’t think it’s serious, it could be and you should take her anyway.
maybe she ate a while before it started and its upset her stomach in some way. Just to be sure id take her to the doctor just incase it is anything too serious he might give her some pills too soothe the pain.
go to her doctor!
