36 Wks Prego And Have Been Havin Diarrhea Past Couple Of Days Can Baby Have A Bowel Movement Too?

Babies do not normally have a bowel movement while in utero. If a baby passes a stool (called meconium) before delivery, the amniotic fluid is green and is called meconium stained. This usually happens when the baby has had an episode of low oxygen from fetal distress of some kind. Low oxygen levels make the anal sphincter dilate and stool is passed. It is an alert to the obstetrician that the baby may be compromised.

When a baby has a bowel movement while inside that is called Meconium and can make a baby ill if they swallow it. That is what makes some peoples “water” brown in color. As for diarrhea that can be a sign of labor according to my OBGYN so if you are having really bad cramps with it or anything call your OBGYN and let them know so they can give you a list of signs.

It wouldn’t come out your body…it would be in the amniotic fluid if anything.

The baby doesn’t have the first bowel movement until they come out. If they have one beforehand, it’s called meconium and it’s very dangerous. This is not what is happening!
Your body is probably getting ready for birth! Within the week or two before birth the body often starts to clean itself out and prepare for baby’s journey. So relax, stay close to the bathroom and get excited… baby’s coming!

Your baby won’t have a bowel movement just because you have diarrhea. Sometimes babies do have their 1st bm (meconium) before they are born, but your doctor will check for this when your water breaks. This usually happens late in pregnancy or during labor, if it happens at all.

Yes, and he or she has been. They’re very small, because the kid’s not actually eating.
